Mrs. Symans attended High School at Eden School District in Western New York.  She started playing Bass at the age of 9 and was involved in Choir, Jazz Band, Orchestra, Wind Ensemble and School Musicals.  She was a member of the Buffalo Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and attended county, district and state music festivals.  Mrs. Symans was also a member of the school tennis and bowling team.  She earned a varsity letter in sports as well as holding first chair in the orchestra.  This formed her strong belief that every child needs and deserves the opportunity to be involved in athletics as well as the arts.  After graduating from High School, Mrs. Symans attended the State University of New York at Fredonia in the field of Music Education with a concentration in strings.  During her College career she performed with the Erie Philharmonic Orchestra as a bassist and taught woodwinds at a local private school.  After receiving a BA in Music Education, Mrs. Symans married her husband and moved to the "big easy", New Orleans, where her husband persued graduate work at Tulane University.  Their next journey would take them to Erie, Pa where their first child, of three, was born.  While staying home to raise her three children, Mrs. Symans continued practicing her Bass, auditioned and became a member ,for the second time, of the Erie Philharmonic Orchestra.   After her oldest daughter started school, Mrs. Symans accepted a teaching job with St. Andrew School in Erie, Pa.  She taught K-8 general music and choir.  Mrs. Symans also initiated a school musical program at St. Andrew while she was there.  Shortly after Mrs. Symans and her family moved to Coudersport, Pa.  She started teaching piano and strings privately in her home and then accepted a position at Galeton School District. She taught Instrumental music, grades 4 to 12, guitar, grade 7,  Choir, Marching Band and directed the school musical.  Mrs. Symans accepted the positon as vocal/general music teacher at Coudersport Elementary and High school in 2002 and has loved every minute of it.   Her teaching responsibilities include elementary general music, elementary fifth and sixth grade choir, and the sixth grade musical.  In the high school she teaches seventh grade general music, eighth grade guitar, Junior choir, Senior Choir, Show Choir, Select Girls Choir and vocals/choreography for the all school musical.
